Nashville City Council Meeting

Tonight I headed down to the Nashville Metro City council meeting with Nurse Moan-eek (Linda Wylie) and our director Cameron McCasland. We were there because tonight was the official presentation for the Go Green with Dr. Gangrene proclamation. It was really incredible to stand there before the city council of Nashville TN, the city where I was born and raised, and be recognized by the city leaders... I was overwhelmed, especially when the council gave us a standing ovation.

I made sure when I spoke at the meeting tonight that I thanked everyone who made it possible, and I also made sure to mention Sir Cecil Creape, the horror host of Nashville TN who paved the way before me. I also want to take a minute to thank Council member Duane Dominy for sponsoring the proclimation, and to thank Cameron for getting the ball rolling and making this all possible.

Dr Gangrene's Creature Feature back on the air

Dr Gangrene's Creature Feature is back on the scarewaves! Here's the update I mailed out to folks today...

Join the mad medico and his lovely assistant Nurse Moan-eek as they present a new fright flick every Saturday afternoon at 1pm during September and October.

The doctor is celebrating his 10th season as Nashville's horror host, and this season has added a new feature to the films - FACT-O-RAMA! So be sure to tune in every week - the first film in the new season is the schlocky grade z-movie THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE, which features a living decapitated head, mad scientist, mutated monster in a closet, strippers and more!!


Other movies in the lineup include THE LAST MAN ON EARTH (the first filmed version of I am Legend starring Vincent Price), WHITE ZOMBIE starring Bela Lugosi, Hammer films' THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, and the horror classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

Lone Wolf tattoo show

Nurse Moan-eek and I made an appearance at the Lone Wolf Body Art Full Moon Tattoo and Horror convention this past weekend. Had a great time, and met a ton of friendly fans, like the one in this photo, Twiggy. Thanks for sending the photo, Twiggy, and great meeting all the fine folks at the horror show. Was especially nice seeing Ken and Pam Kish and getting a chance to spend a bit more time than usual talking. Looking forward to Wonderfest now!!

Frank Dietz draws the Doc!

This year is the second consecutive win for my buddy Frank Dietz as Artist of the Year in the Rondo Awards! I'd like to congratulate Frank, and thought this the perfect time to share a drawing of myself that Frank did and presented to me as a surprise gift at Wonderfest 2007. He and Nurse Moan-eek gave it to me during the Monster on the Campus live show. As usual, Frank did a terrific job with this piece. Thanks again Frank - you're the best!!

Leap Day!

Ken Beck, reporter for the Tennessean newspaper, called me last week because he was gathering responses from various local celebrities about Leap Day. Since it is a special day that only comes around every so often, he wanted to know how Dr. Gangrene would be spending Leap Day. Here's my response:

"Ah, excellent question. Leap years are very exciting. Here at Gangrene Manor we follow the old Transylvanian tradition of Leap Day. On the 29th minute of each hour you have to leap over a different deadly animal. We placed fresh piranha in the pool, cobras in the kitchen, and scorpions in the study. It will be a grand time!"

New article in Mondo Cult Magazine

Just got the word from Mondo Cult Magazine editor Jessie Lilley that the latest issue of her magazine is on the stands and features an article with your gruely! It is mainly about the Wonderfest live show we hosted last year featuring the film "The Tingler," but features a little behind the scenes info on the Doc as well. The article turned out terror-ific and I want to encourage all of you to go pick up a copy of Mondo Cult at a bookstore near you - for a list of stores that carry it in your area go to http://www.mondocult.com/ - for those in the Nashville area I'll save you some time - it is carried at Books-a-Million!
